Within the framework of the AEC annual Congress at the Conservatorio di Milano, on November 13 and 14, MusiQuE organised the in-person sessions of its 12th Peer Reviewers Training Workshop. This year, the Peer Reviewers Training Workshop had a record number of 41 participants, coming from 22 countries around the world. Preceded by an online session on October 17 where the participants were introduced to MusiQuE’s structure, procedures, and the roles and responsibilities of a Peer Reviewer, the in-person sessions included play role sessions and plenaries where participants share their experiences and insights of the role of a Peer Reviewer.
The workshop was both thought-provoking and inspiring, offering three days of collaborative learning and growth. Here’s a recap of the workshop highlights:
Role- Playing Session
During this session the participants had the opportunity to act both as a Peer Reviewers and representatives of a reviewed institution. Through this activity, the participants could familiarize themselves with the different stages of a review procedure, such as the site-visit.
Sharing Role-Playing Experiences
Participants shared their insights from the role-playing activity conducted the day before. This session sparked valuable discussions on the practicalities of the review, challenges encountered, and creative solutions that emerged.
The World Café: Collaborative Insights for Quality Enhancement
Participants worked in groups to tackle important questions surrounding the challenges of quality enhancement in music education. This interactive session fostered deep discussions, creative problem-solving, and the exchange of innovative ideas.
An Inspiring Message from the President of National Association of Schools of Music (NASM)
The workshop concluded with a powerful and motivating intervention by Michael Wilder, President of the NASM, who shared their vision and experiences. His words highlighted the critical role of peer review in fostering quality and innovation in music education and beyond.
As the training reached its last day, participants left inspired, equipped, and ready to contribute meaningfully to MusiQuE processes. MusiQuE would like to thank all the participants for their valuable contributions and active participation.
