From Portugal to Lebanon, 2026 has been a busy year for MusiQuE. Our peer reviewers have visited higher music education institutions in eight countries, helping institutions look closely at what they do well and where they can grow. Here are the highlights.

Reviews:

  • Germany: programme accreditation of the new Master of Arts in Sound Arts and Creative Music Technology at Musikhochschule Lübeck
  • Lebanon: programme accreditation at the Faculty of Music and Musicology of Université Antonine
  • Poland: institutional accreditation of the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław
  • Portugal: three site visits, at Universidade do Minho (Braga), Instituto Politécnico de Castelo Branco and Universidade de Évora, in support of the national agency A3ES
  • Sweden: Critical Friend visit at Malmö Academy of Music reviewing Quality Culture of the institution
  • The Netherlands: Critical Friend visits at Royal Conservatoire The Hague reviewing Composition Department and Classical Music department

Follow-up procedures
A review does not end when the report is published. Our follow-up procedures give institutions the chance to reflect on their progress and discuss next steps with MusiQuE. Recently completed follow-ups:

  • Institutional accreditation of EAMT (Estonia)
  • Quality enhancement reviews of the Music and Drama programmes at KASK Ghent (Belgium)
  • Programme accreditation at KKNC (Kazakhstan)

Other evaluations
MusiQuE also completed an evaluation of the Orpheus Institute (Belgium), the microcredentials offered by Cello Academy Zutphen (the Netherlands) and conducted consultative visit at the Anton Bruckner Private University (Linz, Austria) evaluating the Institute of Theory and History of Music

What’s next?
Currently, we are preparing accreditation and quality enhancement procedures in Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands and Sweden, and consultative visits in Singapore and Switzerland. We are also carrying out external evaluations of the IN.TUNE Alliance, the European Music Council (EMC) and the Co-Connecting Early Childhood Music Education (CC-ECME) project.
