The Trend Analysis seeks to identify good and innovative practices that can be shared with other institutions and to indicate issues that could benefit from further support or intervention from national or regional decision-making institutions.

Commissioned by MusiQuE, Don McLean, an expert, musicologist and researcher with a broad experience as an academic leader and evaluator, read and analysed all the reports of procedures undertaken by MusiQuE in 2019, 2020 and 2021, and wrote a report to identify trends in this sector, both in relation to challenges faced by institutions and successes. For each trend, he proposed some recommendations to the sector or to MusiQuE.

It is a work that integrates the most recent developments and challenges that European higher music education institutions have dealt with between 2019 and 2021 inclusively.
